And being let go, they went to their own companions and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said to them. So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one accord and said: “Lord, You are God, who made heaven and earth and the sea, and all that is in them, Acts 4:23-24 (NKJV)
Never take things for granted. It’s one major lesson we glean from the Early Church. Every help you need, every strength you need, every grace you need, is just a prayer away.
After the Pharisees had released them, they went back to report what transpired in their midst. They told of the event that had gone on that day, and how they had been threatened by the authorities.
After they had shared their experiences, they did one thing: THEY LIFTED UP THEIR VOICES AND PRAYED.
Prayer is an activity of men who have believed in the Living God. They brought their petitions before the God of heaven and asked His help as they navigated the trying times.
“Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus.”
Acts 4:29-30 (NKJV)
That evening, the power of the Holy Spirit descended in a powerful way, and they were filled afresh with the Spirit… They heard again the roar from heaven, and it sacked any element of fear that was in them.
What was the result?
And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness. Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common. And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all. Acts 4:31-33 (NKJV)
So, I challenge you to learn to bring everything to the Lord in prayers. All your worries, anxieties, challenges, etc. He may not take away the problem, but at least He will fill you with the Spirit to enable you overcome it all.
